I am going to be having a big party at my place with a lot of guests staying over and I wanted to get rid of as much clutter and junk as possible to create a bit of room. During this process I came across what is quite possibly the most simple but effective de-cluttering tip you will come across.
I noticed that I have hoarded a lot of boxes from items I have bought in the past. Now I think about it, I have no idea why. Did I keep them in case I needed to pack the items up again? Or did I do it in the hopes of selling them on at a later date perhaps? Whatever reason it was, I never actually needed the boxes.
While it makes sense to keep packaging for a small period in case you need to return an item to the shops, they are otherwise useless and given the shape and size, they take up a lot of room. I had boxes for old mobiles phones I had upgraded from years ago, boxes for various computer upgrades that have been stuck in my PC for the last twelve months. I even had the box for my iron in storage. It’s all gone now. Admittedly most of the boxes contained stuff like manuals and cables but they can be all stored much more effectively outside of their original packaging. I have double the amount of space in my storage room now!
