Ask The Readers: Have You Read 52 Productivity Principles?

March 6th 2007 Ask The Readers 1 comment

According Time Magazine David Allen is currently working on his third book. Some other sources are even speculating that it could show up on shelves by Christmas 2007, so I am sure we will all be keeping an eye out for more news on that. Speaking of David Allen has anybody read his second book, 52 Productivity Principles? I have yet to read it (or even see it in any UK stores for that matter) and was just wondering what people thought of it. How does it compare to GTD?

“Slightly unrelated but has anyone read his 2nd book, 52 Productivity Principles? I have yet to read it (or even see it in any UK stores for that matter) and was just wondering what people thought of it?”

It’s actually called “Ready for Anything” and it’s been out in the UK for a long time now, generally found right next to his first book on the shelves of any big bookshop - or try amazon.co.uk. RfA is a collection of thought-provoking essays from DA’s newsletter. I would recommend it if you feel you’re starting to move into more advanced GTD - it’s a bit “bitty” and isn’t a good introduction to the techniques, GTD is much better for that, but it’s a great thorough review of the principles, encouraging you to think about what’s important to you (specifically, there are direct questions to answer at the end of each chapter) and what you need to do. If you’re serious about becoming good at this stuff (which you seem to be, given the subtitle of your blog!) I would recommend the book.

Exciting news about the next book, but I do wonder what it could possibly contain - maybe more specific customisations for different sectors/working styles?
