There are two approaches concerning the look of your desktop in terms of productivity. Have it as simple as possible, which speeds your system up and you end up with less visual distractions, or beautify it up with fancy themes, effects, wallpapers etc. It makes your system more personal and nice to look at but can all these fancy features take your focus away? I’d like to hear your thoughts on that one.
Personally, I’ve swapped between both approaches a few times over the years and I am currently in a “good looking desktop” mood. It can be quite easy to spend too much time looking for the perfect wallpaper which is a big no-no, so I have just the one site which I refer to called Socksoff. Below I’ve picked out 5 of my favourite wallpapers from the site.
UPDATE: There seemed to be a problem linking directly to the individual wallpapers so I’ve changed them to link to the page they are on instead.
Be Someone
There is nothing quite like looking up at the sky, watching the birds - or in this case a great big jumbo jet - flying overhead to give you a real perspective of the world and your place in it.

Gran Paradiso
What can be a more peaceful site than to be trekking down a dirt track surrounded by beautiful forests and awe inspiring snow topped mountains? Having the image of it as your wallpaper!

Highway
Lets get all metaphorical. That long road going onto into the distance is your life and all those other roads are the choices you can make in your life. Where will you end up? Where do you want to end up? Or alternatively, you may just like this wallpaper for the colours or something, whatever

Yellow Field
Remember in films, where you would get somebody running in slow-mo through the grass/hay/corn fields? Now imagine that person running in slow-mo towards the distant horizon as the credits roll, filling us all with a warm fuzzy feeling. Thats what this wallpaper could do for you…probably.

Bubbles
Can’t really come up with a clever interpretation for this particular wallpaper…it’s just bubbles, but feel free to suggest your own in the comments because I’ve run out of ideas. It just looks nice, ok?
