Well, I may have finally succumbed to the lure of the Moleskine. Maybe. I’ve never bought one before as I just couldn’t justify spending so much money. I like my system to have some scope for scribbling and doodling thoughts and ideas down when necessary, and given how expensive a Moleskine is I just couldn’t feel comfortable using it for anything but neat work.
That was until somebody bought me one. So now I have my very own Moleskine and there are so many ideas on how it can be used. I’ve got a lot of research to do so I am going to start by doing a comprehensive list of all the hacks and approaches I’ve found on the subject. If you know of any others then please leave a link in the comment and I will add it to the list.

Man, I need to buy some stock in that company. They seem to get more free publicity…

They are a bit like the Apple of the stationary world. They certainly have the price to match anyways…

I like Moleskines, but just use index cards for my GTD so I got a Moleskine index card file. It was only $9.95 and will last quite some time as I shuffle index cards in and out of it. No need to replace it when it’s full, so it’s only as expensive as new index cards. No hacking necessary. There’s six files you can set up any way you wish. I have it as incoming, home, work, someday, waiting for and reference. This, a hPDA and a space pen and it’s my entire GTD system.

Didn’t realize they did a index card file. Is it the accordion file folder on their homepage? Either way it looks cool, will have to check it out.

Yes, the accordion file. It doesn’t hold a ton of cards, but I don’t need that many. If you need more, Mead and others have index card files as well.

Great links here. Thanks for sharing them. I just posted instructions for making a pen holder using the existing elastic band and a button. I can’t take credit for the idea, but I haven’t seen a post showing images of how it’s done.
