One of the most popular concepts the author of GTD, David Allen, states is to have a mind like water. When you throw a pebble into water, it responds appropriately to the force and mass of that pebble, then returns to a calm state. You should be able to react similarly when an email enters your inbox or you receive an urgent call from your manager. However, the mind like water concept is not new. Indeed, Bruce Lee famously used it in an interview, which this neat animation summarizes.

Awesome example of how less is more. even in teaching. I must adapt to this new lesson. Thank you for sharing this with us.

There is an error in the flick. If you put it into the teapot it becomes tea!
This makes me think about how my mind works. I find it easy to do anything and react to whatever situation, but at the same time it’s extremely hard to take decisions if I don’t have to (simply because I really don’t have to).

Glad you all liked the video. I like these life lessons as animations. Will see what others I can find. Luke, you make a very good point about how the water would actually become tea, never thought of that!

Hey! Cool that you used my little animation. I made this animation after I saw the Bruce Lee interview. I was thinking, “Wow, thats a great philosophy” and I just had to make some kind of animation to it. I’m glad you liked it.
