Yeah, how to set medium/long term goals is very important in being effective. How can you know what the important tasks are in your life if you don't know what you want to be doing?

Great article. I really think that setting goals is the key to living an effective (rather than efficient) life. By projecting yourself six months into the future and determining what is important to you, you can develop a plan of your work and then work on your plan. I find this helps me to avoid the tyranny of the urgent and allows me to focus on the important things to me.

I have a really hard time allowing my house to be dirty sometimes, but it's worth it. Life is too short to be inside cleaning all the time!
