Clutter 101: The Different Types Of Clutter

Welcome to the third part of the Clutter 101 series on how to get your home thoroughly de-cluttered and keep it that way. Already I’ve discussed why we keep clutter and how to effectively deal with it. In this third post I will be looking at how clutter can be broken down into a number of different types. It’s not just all about junk and rubbish. Being able to identify a particular type of clutter allows you to process it much more quickly and effectively. For instance, if you recognize a piece of paper you need for reference you can immedately file it away without procrastinating  over it. Clutter 101: How To De-Clutter

Welcome to the second part of my Clutter 101 series. In the introductory post I covered why we clutter and what thought processes go through our head to justify being so unorganized. In this post I will look at the actual process of de-cluttering, whether it be a mini project to get back on top of it all, or whether it is the first time you are de-cluttering and you are jumping in at the deep end. I will cover the preparatory work you can do so you don’t get overwhelmed by it all and then look at the physical process of disposing of your junk and organizing what remains.

Clutter 101: Why Do We Keep Clutter?

I’ve found myself with a fair bit of spare time recently as I am between jobs so I’ve decided to give the home a really long overdue tidy and de-clutter (four big bags of rubbish and counting). As a result I’ve learned quite a lot about the whole process, so as a natural progression I’ve decided to start a new series of posts on how you can de-clutter and get control of your possessions. In this first part I will look at what sort of attitudes make us keep so much stuff, rather than getting rid of it all.
