Today is Blog Action day which I previously discussed in my weekly recap. The topic for this year is the environment and my little contribution to this huge issue will be discussing those first small steps you can take to develop your environmentally friendly habit. After all, a lot of people are so used to being wasteful, leaving appliances and lights on, etc that it’s become a bad habit they really need to break. In a previous post I discussed the key concepts that you can use to take those first tentative steps to building a new habit. By combining that article with the following points you will have all the groundwork you need.

Today I am starting a new series of posts on Organize IT - called Audit Your Life - discussing how you can audit various aspects of your life so as to determine where you stand, what is missing, what is needed and how you can structure and optimize each area. In this first post I will look at your clothes collection and describe the process of auditing your wardrobe so that it functions efficiently and fully serves its purpose in your life.

I came across this site last night which I thought I would share. It has quite a few neat ideas and advice on cutting down on your water usage by maintaining/replacing various elements of your home. Check out the tour for a room-by-room guide to what you can do. Below I’ve summarized their top 5 key actions for water savings:
- Stop those leaks!
- Replace your old toilet, the largest water user inside your home.
- Replace your clothes washer, the second largest water user.
- Plant the right plants with proper landscape design & irrigation
- Water only what your plants need

Picked up this neat idea from LifeDev the other day, and seeing as I am currently on a role with posting all the clever little hacks I’m coming across at the moment I thought I would showcase this one :). While I have some reservations about where all the heat is going to dissipate to (or as one person commented on the Digg article, “I don’t know how I feel about having my wireless router that close to my balls…”), I think its definately worth checking out if you fancy a little Sunday DIY job. Now all I need is a decent table…

I can’t remember where I originally picked up this idea but I always thought it was quite a neat one so I thought I would share it with you all (I’ve already posted about the reward card key ring, maybe this could be the start of a new mini series?). If you are anything like me you are always losing socks having your socks lost by whoever washes your clothes that day, and struggling to match them up. Short of doing some incredibly strict laundry routine to keep them all together and accounted for, I suggest you buy a load of plain black socks and then just chuck them in whatever place you store them. Whenever you need a pair of socks you can just randomly pull two out without having to worry about missing one or about them mismatching.
