Organize IT recap for 12th August 2007

  • This is a neat little tip to squeeze every last drop of detergent from a bottle. However I seem to have collected about five bottles which are taking up lots of space under the sink, so I don’t really have to worry about running out :)
  • 9 reasons why an apple a day really really keeps the doctor away.
  • How about 147 tips for living a more frugal life? What’s better, they are all broken down into catagories such as your job, home, social life and relationships. Speaking from personal experience though, I find trying to be frugal with relationships can be a pretty risky prospect ;)
  • I’ve always found the prospect of a time audit a little too much micromanaging of your life (what’s your thoughts?). However if you are interested in the concept then check out this post at Genuine Curiosity for some details about it.

  • It’s becoming possible to do more and more cool things through your browser. Now you can even download bittorrent files thanks to BitLet.
  • Do you like to run? Whether it be jogging around the garden or doing a 10k marathon, Running Planet has lots of guides and tips, on such issues as training and nutrition.
  • Organize IT is a year old this month (I need to dig through my archives to find the exact date) and I am currently thinking about ways to celebrate the occasion. If you have any ideas then please leave a comment.

Organize IT recap for 29th July 2007

  • Productivity advice from Jerry Seinfeld? You read that right, check it out here. He basically suggests getting a big wall calendar and putting a big red X through each day when you complete your tasks for it. After a while you create a nice, long chain which you really don’t want to break.
  • 10 articles that changed your life? Shaun has selected his and it’s quite an eclectic mix. I want to try and come up with 10 articles/books/films etc that changed my life sometime. Any of you guys ever done it?
  • Over at Achieve IT! there is a 10 point guide to squashing a bad mood in 17 minutes or less. I’m not entirely sure where he got the 17 minute figure from though :)

  • You have to check out Invite Share! A lot of new web services seem to run closed beta services nowadays and you need to get invites from other uses to use it. By signing up to this site you can share your invites or lot others know you want one. I got a Joost invite within a minute of requesting it!
  • Here is a nice quiz that works out how addicted to blogging you are. You even get a little image at the end that displays your results. I got 62%, what about you?
  • Simple Productivity Blog has has an interesting article about viewing goal setting as waveforms, with such terms as frequency and wavelength.
  • Finally, over at Productivity501, Mark has tried out an idea called called an “habit list” where you create a sheet to monitor your habits and see how many times you do it per month. I’ve tried similar approaches in the past with not much success so this is something I may have to try.

Organize IT Recap: GTD 2.0, Health Benefits Of Music

Organize IT recap for 14th July 2007

  • If you are on the home page of the blog you may notice I have added lists of recently commented and most popular posts. The latter used to be tucked away at the bottom of the sidebar so I thought I should bring it up and make it more useful. Your thoughts?
  • It seems to be cool to make everything 2.0 these days so why not have GTD 2.0? HD BizBlog picked up on the topic here. You can read the original article by Eric Mack plus a good response over at Michael’s Thoughts. How can GTD evolve to deal with the increasing uptake of information and the demands of work in the future? I may have to put up a few thoughts of my own.
  • Interesting read about the health and psychological benefits of music
  • This blog could prove quite useful. It basically covers how to eat on the cheap and regularly updates with new recipes and product reviews.
