I came across this site last night which I thought I would share. It has quite a few neat ideas and advice on cutting down on your water usage by maintaining/replacing various elements of your home. Check out the tour for a room-by-room guide to what you can do. Below I’ve summarized their top 5 key actions for water savings:
- Stop those leaks!
- Replace your old toilet, the largest water user inside your home.
- Replace your clothes washer, the second largest water user.
- Plant the right plants with proper landscape design & irrigation
- Water only what your plants need

Recap

Another week, another recap. If you have not already read it then please check out my procrastination guide and leave some feedback. Its one of my biggest posts to date and I would really like to hear what you all think of it Anyways onto the rest of the recap…
- As I am currently on a nice long break from work, I’ve finally had a bit of time to really clean and organize the home. I’ve been browsing around for a few tips and ideas and came across Real Simple. They also do a magazine, its just a pity I can’t seem to get it in UK (anyone know otherwise?)
- Came across a site called Meals Matter via Lifehacker which has a nice selection of meal ideas and other similar features. Of particular interest is the eating healthy section and the food diary which I may give a try to see what I’m really eating.
- Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas on organizing laundry? I currently have the unenviable task of washing, ironing and putting away two people’s laundry. Its always quite the challenge to stay on top of it so I’m going to be looking into my options and hopefully post about it in the near future.
Check back tomorrow for the new site design

You may remember in a previous post I linked to the formula for procrastination. While the actual mathematics of the equation do not interest me in this post (go to the authors site for a good example including a graph that really demonstrates the point), it got me thinking about the four parts of the equation (expectancy, value, sensitivity and delay) and how we can increase/improve the odds for each element, and thus resulting in less chance of procrastinating on the task.

Picked up this neat idea from LifeDev the other day, and seeing as I am currently on a role with posting all the clever little hacks I’m coming across at the moment I thought I would showcase this one :). While I have some reservations about where all the heat is going to dissipate to (or as one person commented on the Digg article, “I don’t know how I feel about having my wireless router that close to my balls…”), I think its definately worth checking out if you fancy a little Sunday DIY job. Now all I need is a decent table…

This is a new feature I may try out on a regular basis where I will cover the most interesting posts and articles I’ve come across over the week as well as whats happened/whats on the horizon for Organize IT. Hopefully you will also pick up some good links and stuff to read. So without further ado…
- I came across a neat site called Organized Life. Of particular interest is the series about using Filofax for GTD. Its always Levenger and Moleskine that seems to get mentioned in regards GTD so its refreshing to see someone using Filofax. I recently bought one too, but iI made the mistake of buying the smallest one they make which made it really hard to use :D. Anyone else use Filofax? Would be interested in hearing your experiences so leave a comment.
- I’ve recently been looking into the GTD horizons of focus (also called the vertical map) and came across this little post giving the author’s opinions on the matter. In the near future I will be posting my own thoughts and experiences on the horizons of focus as I am currently finding it quite useful and it seems to be a topic that often gets neglected.
- If you have a habit of wasting away time idly browsing online for something, anything then this article may be for you. Though the solution they suggest is by no means original, I think their description and explanation for why we spend so much time browsing is pretty spot on? Do you agree?
- Finally I have come across The Ultimate GTD Index. If the dramatic name alone doesn’t pull you in it loads of feeds from various GTD related blogs (including this one yay :)), lists of software, and no doubt a load of other things. Just go look and see for yourself
