GTD

Welcome to the next part about my GTD implementation. For the introduction go here, for part 1 go here. When I last left you I was using a ring binder and individual sheets for next actions. For Christmas I was given a leather conference portfolio which I liked and really wanted to use but as it was not a binder it would have required quite a departure from my existing system. As over the holiday period I had rather neglected things I figured it was a good time to freshens things up with a new approach.

I can’t remember where I originally picked up this idea but I always thought it was quite a neat one so I thought I would share it with you all (I’ve already posted about the reward card key ring, maybe this could be the start of a new mini series?). If you are anything like me you are always losing socks having your socks lost by whoever washes your clothes that day, and struggling to match them up. Short of doing some incredibly strict laundry routine to keep them all together and accounted for, I suggest you buy a load of plain black socks and then just chuck them in whatever place you store them. Whenever you need a pair of socks you can just randomly pull two out without having to worry about missing one or about them mismatching.

Below I have listed what I consider to be the most fundamental keyboard shortcuts that I personally use the most and result in the biggest speed gain over people who don’t use them (and who should really use them ). I’ve primarily picked these shortcuts after watching people dawdle along trying to do whatever it is they are doing on their PCs. For instance, that whole laboured moving the mouse about to select, copy and paste some text. Most of time I’ve just wanted to yank them off their chairs and do it for them because it just seems soooo slow. But hey, maybe I’m impatient
- Save (ctrl + s)
- Cut (ctrl + x)
- Copy (ctrl + c)
- Paste (ctrl + v)
- Undo (ctrl + z)
- Redo (ctrl + y)
- Select (ctrl + a)
- Task switch (alt + tab)
The following list is for Windows and may differ on other operating systems. However, unless you happen to use your machine for something completely different to the norm (does Nasa use shortcut keys I wonder?) this list should be applicable for most activities.

Don’t you just love coming across a really neat but simple idea? I was just browsing on LifeClever and came across this idea for organizing all your reward cards (and no doubt a few other types of card as well). Though I personally have never bothered with reward cards and like to keep my wallet to a minimum, my partner could seriously do with something like this. I spend enough time following her around clothes shops without waiting at the tills for her to dig out her reward card (just joking honey )
Hess gas card is for those who want to save money on gas.
