Clutter 101: The Holiday Suitcase

May 11th 2007   Clutter 101   0 comments

suitcase holiday clutter tidy homeAfter I came back from holiday I had the undesirable task of unpacking everything, washing all the clothes and putting stuff away (in fact I’m still doing it now). Normally I have to keep the suitcases under the bed. As you all probably know suitcases are pretty hefty things to store, and in my case, under the bed was the only practical place for them. It’s hardly the most efficient use of space however, so I’ve decided to use them as storage. My partner’s suitcase is used to store the large collection of shoes she never wears but refuses to part with, while mine is used to store all the jumpers and thick coats we have that are no use during the Summer. Ok, when I go on a holiday I will have to take them all out again, but if you are like me and are only likely to go on a big holiday with a suitcase once or twice a year, I wouldn’t consider it a problem. After all, it’s only a five minute job to take everything out as you pack, and then put it all back in again when the holiday is over. You are going to be miles away getting sunburnt, so it doesn’t really matter if you pile the stuff up in a corner for a few days :)

Get Hold Of My GTD System

May 10th 2007   GTD   0 comments

People have been asking me recently about what folder I use for my GTD system, what sheets I use etc. While it is basically quite a simple system I have designed quite a lot of templates to use. I have gradually been putting them up for everyone to use. However due to requests I have decided to offer the full package, as it were. I’m now selling the folder, divider and a collection of templates for you to use. The price is quite reasonable and just covers the cost of getting hold of the various parts and posting them on. Please go to this page and check it out. If you aren’t interested at the very least there is an ever expanding collection of free templates for you to use :)

The Top 10 GTD & Productivity Sites/Blogs

May 9th 2007   GTD, Links   21 comments

I’ve been away for over a week on holiday hense the lack of posts recently. From today I’m hoping to catch up with things. One of the first things I did when I got back home was to get up to date with the latest goings on with my favourite sites. I have quite a few productivity blogs bookmarked on my del.icio.us account so it certainly took a while :) It got me to thinking which of these sites really stood out for me and provided top content on a regular basis. In an attempt to answer this I’ve come up with my top 10 GTD & productivity sites/blogs. Bear in mind, it’s by no means definitive. There are so many sites out there that I could quite easily wake up tomorow and change half the list :)

Make The Most Of Your Holidays

May 6th 2007   Personal Development   0 comments

Holidays are great and we very often feel like we need time off to get things done in our lives. Yet, when we have this time, what do we do with it? Nothing! You may have a few days off, maybe a week or longer and its like a blank canvas of time to be used however you see fit. However, it doesn’t always seem to work out that way. So many choices of what to do, so much time available, it becomes overwhelming. So below, I’ve created a random list of things you can do on your holiday/time off, to inspire a bit of thinking for yourself and give you some ideas on how you can use the time available. There is always something you can do, you just sometimes need to be reminded of what’s out there!

Beware Of Bargains

May 2nd 2007   Financial   0 comments

Beware of special offers, price cuts, and bargains. Businesses are there to take your custom, there is always some benefit to them for any bargain they offer. There is a large customer base out there who will be influenced by a 10% off, or a 3-for-2 and miss out on what the real saving to them is. Sometimes they will even buy something just because it’s on special offer. Remember, you might save a bit with special offers but you will save even more by not buying it in the first place. If you need the item, great, you’ve saved yourself a few pounds. Otherwise don’t let all those special offer signs and adverts overrule your frugal decision making.
